APICS Quad Cities Chapter President's Corner:  23November2020

The APICS Quad Cities Chapter Board wishes you, your family and friends a healthy and meaningful Thanksgiving holiday and events.  This is one more challenge of many this crazy year for us to plan, prepare and execute well.  And, definitely make it meaningful.  It may be some of the same traditions done virtually.  It may be new traditions started this year.  We encourage each of you to make it a meaningful, happy and THANKFUL time, to the best of our abilities.

Programs/Events:  Our plans for Programs and Tours this fall were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.  It impacted our presenters and our members.  So, we are planning some innovative programs and events starting in January 2021.  These will include unique presentations, some networking and possibly "tasting" opportunities and virtual tours.  Please block your calendar for 20Jan2021, that will be our first planned evening event for the new calendar year.

Me a Guest Instructor/Speaker?
As we continue to broaden and deepen our relationships with regional colleges and universities, such as Black Hawk College, Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, St. Ambrose University, Western Illinois University and a few others, we are finding opportunities for our members and professionals to possibly become guest lecturers, specific topic guest speakers, or other opportunities to become involved with the students and share our knowledge and experiences.  If you are interested or would like to learn more, please contact Mike Bailey at baileymichaela.mb@gmail.com or cell: 309-235-0889, or Sofia Ortiz 309-765-4559.  We will work with the various schools and offer up this valuable resource(s) for the upcoming school year.

Board Member Opportunities:
We need two more board members.  We are looking for a person to be Vice President and one to backup the Treasurer.  If you are interested in either of these positions, or know of someone who may be interested, or just want to learn what may be involved, please contact Mike Bailey at baileymichaela.mb@gmail.com or call 309-235-0889.

Education
We had a good fall with certification review classes completed for CPIM and CSCP.
We are continuing to expand our education opportunities and certification review classes for the calendar year,  In fact, we are prepared to offer both Instructor led virtual and face-to-face class format for our 3 certifications:

We are working to determine possible demand, locations and type of classes for the next 6 months.  If you have a need, interest or questions about any of these, please contact Mike Bailey at baileymichaela.mb@gmail.com, or cell: 309-235-0889.  This will guide our efforts and solutions.

Marketing & Communications
Linda Fonkoue is the board member leading our Marketing & Communications efforts.  We are completing updates and improvements to our website, communications, social media presence and other related activities.  We are working to update our content to better meet your current and future needs.  Please provide feedback and ideas to help us improve.
You will see, and we will announce the improvements.

Note:  Is the President’s Corner is meeting your needs?  Suggestions for improvement?  I am interested in your feedback.  Please let me know.

Michael A. Bailey, APICS Quad Cities Chapter, President

APICS Quad Cities Chapter President's Corner: 27July2020

WE, the professionals and ongoing students of Operations, Supply Chain and Logistics concepts, issues, practices, challenges, successes, continuous improvement and relentless changes are sometimes in the forefront of the national view, but usually in the background continuing to make things happen. Sometimes we get in the national news, sometimes we get talked about and sometimes we get the recognition that comes with our usual "jobs well done". In the next 100 days, we will get noticed even more as the political season heats up. Already I have seen some politicians be proud of their supply chain experience, and one is using it as a qualifier for being elected, and of course soooo many issues involve us and out expertise. But, we are not usually recognized or truly understood on how we continue to drive change and successes. But WE KNOW!!

I continue to be glad/proud to be a part of you/us professionals and have others understand what we do and the variety of IMPORTANT roles that we are in TO MAKE IT HAPPEN…for them.

Programs/Events: Our summer planning efforts are progressing nicely for the 2020-2021 Program year. Please block your calendar for 16Sep2020, that will be our first planned evening event for the new Program year.
